Rialto Bridge, Venice, Italy
Breanne and I on our gondola ride!
Hi everyone!
It’s Kelly and Breanne!! We are officially in Italy! Wooooo :) We are tired. It’s been an exciting but overwhelming past 2 days. We met at the Heathrow airport yesterday, after very long trips for the both of us. (Breanne from Chicago, Kelly from Paris), and eventually made our way to Brighton. Kelly was able to show Breanne around Brighton a little. We went to her school’s small but pretty campus, then to the Brighton city center, and then finally to the Brighton Pier. We had fun, but we’re exhausted. So after a few hours of sleep, we were up again at 4:15 am to catch our 5:00 bus to the airport. Once we arrived in Venice, we had to take an hour ride on a waterbus to get to the main island of Venice. Then we wandered around a bit trying to find our hotel, and once we got into our room we had to figure out how to use the power and shower, because nothing would turn on. We were under the impression that our room had no power. But being the Nancy Drew’s that we are, discovered a key slot to put our key in (and keep it there) and it works our power. It’s also really nice to know where your keys are when you’re in the room. Double whammy!!! Then there was the shower problem. This was really just Kelly, because Breanne didn’t really struggle with that part. She is really smart. But it was not the same type of shower we have back in the states. After the power debacle of 2011, we had a planned tour at 3:00! So we walked around Venice seeing some of the hot spots. To conclude our tour, we went on a gondola ride through the main canal and mini canals. FACT: they do not sing :( BUT, they do all wear a striped shirt (either blue and white or red and white). AND we did hear one gondola man sing, but that was it… Then we wandered around a bit, got some dinner and then gelato! Now we are relaxing, and are very excited to get some good sleep tonight. We miss you all, and hope to update you soon!!
